This or That #41

Hello fellow readers! Tuesday’s have officially become “This or That” day! Now we have 3 weekly posts going on and more will be added.

This or That is created by Rae over at bookmarkcronicles. Every week a bookish question is tossed out there and a choice must be made! On Fridays the topic choice winner is announced. Please check out her blog and share some bookish love!

Do you read biographies/autobiographies and/or  memoirs?

I have deemed all of the above just not for me! Ever since I was in elementary school I have never been able to finish a biography/had the desire to pick one up. I usually stick with reading fiction, never really delving into non-fiction.

I find them usually slow and not enough to keep my interest! I feel terrible for saying that but they just aren’t my cup of tea. My best friend on the other hand absolutely loves them so it all comes down to preference.

What about you? What are your thoughts on biographies/autobiographies/memoirs? Fan or not? Please let me know in the comments below!

Stay snazzy and I hope you have a lovely Tuesday!

-Samantha 🙂

Top 5 Wednesday: Characters You Defend

This or That? #40

Current Read:

I am going on week 2 of reading Outlander and I can definitely say I am hooked! I had only been reading a chapter a day to pace myself but that thinking has flown out the window. As of last night I have hit part four and it is full steam ahead on the Outlander train. I am officially 50% done with the novel and hope to complete it this week!

This was a book I was intimidated by but no longer. Sometimes it is good to take a chance and jump right into something!

I hope that you all have an amazing week ahead! This week I will be participating in “This or That #41” as well as this weeks #T5W topic “Book Theme Songs”…. You know I’m going to go all out!

This or That? #40

Hello fellow readers! Today we will be embarking on a new journey. The day that these are posted on may vary until I find a set day!

This or That is created by Rae over at bookmarkcronicles. Every week a bookish question is tossed out there and a choice must be made! On Fridays the topic choice winner is announced.

You buy a book that a friend recommended to you or that a lot of people have been talking about. You reach the end of it and you hate it. Totally unsatisfying and a waste of time. One, maybe two, stars out of five. What do you do with it?

Keep it

Donate/sell it

Personally I love donating books because it gives others a chance to read it. Just because it wasn’t my cup of tea doesn’t mean it isn’t someone else’s! I think that donating would be a great way to pass on the book and get some more room on my shelf.

What would you do? Let me know in the comments below! Have an amazing day and read on!

Top 5 Wednesday: Characters You Defend

Hello fellow readers! I hope that your Wednesday is going well and that the rest of the week is kind to you! This week’s #T5W topic is all about “Characters You Defend.”

If you would like to join in on T5W please feel free to check out our Goodreads group. Without further ado let us get on with defending these said characters!

-Samantha 🙂

1. Tatiana Metanova from The Bronze Horseman

Tatiana is like my child! I love and adore her so much. I know that she has a few rocky moments but in her mind she is in the right. She would do anything for the one’s she loves. Plus she’s one of the strongest characters I’ve ever read about!

2. Clive from Wallbanger

Clive is main character Caroline’s feline pal and I LOVE HIM!! He is just so precious and pesky that we’re a match made in Heaven. Knock all of the sand bottles down that you wish little one.

3. Kaz Brekker from Six of Crows

My heart goes out to Kaz. He’s a little bit ruthless and a whole lot hurting. He would do anything to get what he wants and it is that trait that makes him so endearing.

4. Draco Malfoy from Harry Potter

Again my heart goes out to Draco. I’ve got a love hate going on with this boy (mainly because of his actions in book 6) but hate aside I feel horrible about the situation he’s in! I think he needs a good hand to guide him.

5. Charlie from The Perks of Being a Wallflower

I love Charlie for so many different reasons. He’s got such a big heart and he’s lost but when his guidance comes along his eyes are opened up to a whole new world. He is honestly like my child and my heart aches for him.

Personal Update:

THIS IS MY LAST WEEK OF HIGH SCHOOL!!!!!! I can’t believe that the past 4 years have flown by and that I am finishing writing the high school chapter of my life. I have been so blessed to meet the kindest of people, a few that share a love of puns and books as well.

Not too much else to report, this past week has been pretty boring but this week will definitely pass by quickly!

This Week’s Post:

Top 5 Wednesday: Summer Reads

Current Read:

I have finally jumped onto the Outlander train! A few weeks back I spoke about this being a book I am intimidated by but I decided to conquer my fear.

I am about 100 pages in and I am hooked!! I adore Claire, she is smart and strong and her narration isn’t annoying in the slightest. I’ve already caught the feelings for Jamie too. Eeep!

Book Haul:

IMG_6669 (1)

The week before last BookOutlet was having a 15% off the entire site for Mother’s Day! While that sale was going on I picked up:

  • Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore: Robin Sloane
  • Me Before You: Jojo Moyes
  • Sempre: J.M. Darhower
  • Sempre Redemption: J.M. Darhower

I’m super excited about all of these books and I plan on placing yet another order on BookOutlet.

For those of you who don’t know BookOutlet is a site where the books are at ridiculously low prices! I have gotten so many amazing books for cheap and they are always great. I suggest checking it out if you’re interested!

FEAR THE WALKING DEAD’S MID-SEASON FINALE IS ON TONIGHT AND I CAN’T BELIEVE IT!!!! I can’t wait to see what goes down at Celia’s and see how the Abigail Group take to the walkers that lurk closer than they expected……

I hope that everyone has an amazing week ahead! This coming week I will be trying out some new weekly meme’s I hope so please keep your eyes peeled for those. Also this week’s #T5W post will be dedicated to “Characters You Defend.”

Stay reading and enjoy your Sunday!

Top 5 Wednesday: Summer Reads

Hello fellow readers! I hope that your Wednesday’s are peachy and you’re doing well. This week’s #T5W topic is all about “Summer Reads”. The summer is quickly approaching so this is the perfect way to suggest some fun reads!

If you would like to join in on T5W please feel free to check out our Goodreads group. Without further ado lets get into the summery vibe!

1. Fallen Too Far by Abbi Glines

I loved this series!! Fallen Too Far follows a young woman named Blaire who has just lost her mother. She must travel to Rosemary Beach, a place so foreign to her that she feels like she stands out like a sore thumb, and learn to live with  her new stepbrother Rush who is much more that just meets the eye. This is a perfect summer read since it takes place during the summer and has all the aspects of a contemporary romance with a twist!

2. Safe Haven by Nicolas Sparks

It isn’t really summer if you don’t read a Nick Sparks book! Safe Haven follows a young woman Katie who travels to a small town named Southport in North Carolina. Her arrival sparks the interest of a widowed father named Alex. As she tries to settle down and the people around her grow on her dark secrets of her past start to bob to the surface. It has an air of suspense, a great deal of love, and is a fantastic read!

3. Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo

I usually like my summer reads to include a bit of action and fantasy and Six of Crows has all that jam packed into it! The story follows a set of skilled individuals as they take of the task of carrying out the perfect heist. I don’t want to give anymore away since it is better to go into this book blind!

4. Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire

Good girl Abby Abernathy doesn’t walk the top of the fence between good and bad, she stays fully on the good side. Now that is. That just about flies out the window as she is introduced to bad boy Travis Maddox who has an interesting proposition for her. Little does this bad boy know that he’s met the perfect match. This is a great new adult romance to dive into over the summer!

5. The Forbidden Game by L.J. Smith

Fantasy and romance… perfect! This book was such a delight to read and it’s the perfect summer read. The Forbidden Game follows a young girl named Jenny and her friends as the Prince of Shadows drags them all into his mind-toying game. This book has some romance, mystery, and action!

I hope you enjoyed this weeks #T5W and please let me know in the comments what your favorite summer reads are and if you’ve read any of the books listed above! Also, what are some other posts you’d like to see on my blog? I hope that you all have an amazing rest of the week and thanks for reading!
