Description of Throne of Glass via Goodreads:

“Nothing is a coincidence. Everything has a purpose. You were meant to come to this castle, just as you were meant to be an assassin.”

When magic has gone from the world, and a vicious king rules from his throne of glass, an assassin comes to the castle. She does not come to kill, but to win her freedom. If she can defeat twenty-three killers, thieves, and warriors in a competition to find the greatest assassin in the land, she will become the King’s Champion and be released from prison.

Her name is Celaena Sardothien.

The Crown Prince will provoke her. The Captain of the Guard will protect her.

And a princess from a foreign land will become the one thing Celaena never thought she’d have again: a friend.

But something evil dwells in the castle—and it’s there to kill. When her competitors start dying, horribly, one by one, Celaena’s fight for freedom becomes a fight for survival—and a desperate quest to root out the source of the evil before it destroys her world.

I will leave you all now to go cry as I read. I hope you enjoy!

Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you. Happy birthday dear Escaping from Houdini, happy birthday to you!

That’s right fellow readers, we have a book birthday!! Today Escaping from Houdini hits shelves and I cannot be more excited. This is one of my Top 3 books for this year and I am already in the midst of reading it. This is the third book in Kerri Maniscalco’s series and it is possibly one of my all time favorites.

In this novel follow alongside Audrey Rose and Thomas as they set sail to America. Of course, there will be a few bumps along the way….

I don’t want to give any spoilers along the way, but below is the synopsis of the first novel along with where to purchase the books!

Description of Stalking Jack the Ripper via Goodreads:

Seventeen-year-old Audrey Rose Wadsworth was born a lord’s daughter, with a life of wealth and privilege stretched out before her. But between the social teas and silk dress fittings, she leads a forbidden secret life.

Against her stern father’s wishes and society’s expectations, Audrey often slips away to her uncle’s laboratory to study the gruesome practice of forensic medicine. When her work on a string of savagely killed corpses drags Audrey into the investigation of a serial murderer, her search for answers brings her close to her own sheltered world.

Book Birthday: A Reaper At The Gates (6/12/18)

IMG_3103

We have a book birthday today everyone! Ahhh today is the day where A Reaper at the Gates is out for purchase!! A Reaper at the Gates is the third book in author Sabaa Tahir’s Ember quartet. I don’t want to include any spoilers since this is the third book, but it is an amazing series! The first novel A Ember in the Ashes, follows two vastly different characters Laia and Elias as they navigate through their conflicting situations.

Description of An Ember in the Ashes via Goodreads:

Laia is a slave. Elias is a soldier. Neither is free.
Under the Martial Empire, defiance is met with death. Those who do not vow their blood and bodies to the Emperor risk the execution of their loved ones and the destruction of all they hold dear.
It is in this brutal world, inspired by ancient Rome, that Laia lives with her grandparents and older brother. The family ekes out an existence in the Empire’s impoverished backstreets. They do not challenge the Empire. They’ve seen what happens to those who do.
But when Laia’s brother is arrested for treason, Laia is forced to make a decision. In exchange for help from rebels who promise to rescue her brother, she will risk her life to spy for them from within the Empire’s greatest military academy.
There, Laia meets Elias, the school’s finest soldier—and secretly, its most unwilling. Elias wants only to be free of the tyranny he’s being trained to enforce. He and Laia will soon realize that their destinies are intertwined—and that their choices will change the fate of the Empire itself.

I highly recommend picking up this quartet and diving into the fascinating story that Tahir takes on. It will have you on an emotional rollercoaster and keep you on the edge of your seat! I promise the second you pick these books up, you won’t be able to put them down.
