This or That? #57

Hello fellow readers! Happy Thursday! I hope that you are all doing smashing and are having a great week. I apologize for being so absent as of late. Work has been taking up all of my free time and school has taken up the rest.

For those who don’t know This or That is created by Rae over at bookmarkcronicles. Every week a bookish question is tossed out there and a choice must be made! On Fridays the topic choice winner is announced. Please head on over to her awesome blog and share some bookish love!

Without further ado let’s get started!

This week’s topic:

If you were to publish a book which would you choose between writing a novel or a collection of short stories?

For some of you that don’t know I aspire to be a writer and I am working on my novel as we speak. It is a daunting task but one that I have taken on and am enjoying.

If I were to publish my first book I think I would go for a full length novel and then move onto maybe publishing a collection of short stories (maybe inspired by some of my main/minor characters). Either way I think that publishing your work is an amazing thing no matter what!

Personally, it would take me a while to publish my novel since the writing bug likes to escape sometimes and my creative genius is all over the place. When I find myself not into my novel-writing I do find myself working on small projects and finding inspiration there.

What would you do? Let me know in the comments!

I hope that everyone has a great weekend and takes care. Thank you for sticking with Surrounded by Books!

1. Six of Crows: Leigh Bardugo

This has to be my top pick for this topic. I was once asked a long time ago which book I would like to have turned into a television show and this was once again my answer. The level of creativity and suspense that this book has tops the charts and to see it on the screen would just be awesome!

2. The Westing Game: Ellen Raskin

This book happens to be a childhood favorite of mine and I personally believe that it would do well as a tv show. There is a great deal of mystery involved and those are the best.

3. The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer: Michelle Hodkin

Romance, mystery, and suspense!! I again would love to see this amazing novel as a show. I think that the characters would come to life even more.

4. Darkfever: Karen Marie Moning

I would love love love to see Mac and Barons in live action! This book series is full of twists and turns that a show would be jam packed with good content.

Hello reader fam! I hope you are all doing spectacular this fine Thursday.

This week’s question is…

Would you ever join a book club? Why or why not?

I absolutely would! I have always wished I could but I’ve never run across one. Personally, I feel like book clubs are a way to fan-over and chat all about a book that has been chosen. It is also a way to explore the different book options out there. Also it is a great way of making friends and that idea really sings to me.

Being able to come together each week or month with people that share a love of novels is a dream. I can only hope that one day I can be apart of one, whether that be online or in person!
